The Chequers in Pampisford is a traditional 15th Century pub with open wood beams, low ceilings, nooks, crannies, a cosy atmosphere and a warm welcome.
Landlords Maureen and Ivan Hutton were previously at the Three Kings in Haddenham for six years where they were well known for their traditional home-cooked food. They took over The Chequers in November 2006, and have brought the same ethos to this village pub.
All are welcome for a drink or a meal at The Chequers, so just pop in!
The Chequers is no longer a Greene King pub so is free to serve a range of real ales, including Black Sheep, London Pride as well as Greene King IPA. There is also an extensive wine list of world wines.
Maureen and Ivan have recently refurbished the pub, and its red walls and comfy furniture create a cosy and welcoming environment. When you visit for a meal you will find a friendly and helpful waitress service looking after you and your party.
The Chequers offer an a la carte menu at pub prices as well as a popular Sunday carvery with all ingredients sourced locally, the meat from a butcher in Sawston and the vegetables form Cottenham. Delicious food that's also great value for money.
The desserts really are a treat, with old-fashioned favourites like crumbles, treacle sponge pudding and, more modern concoctions such as, Baileys and chocolate cheesecake. You'll definitely want to leave space to try what's on offer.
The pub is very family friendly with a children's menu that is fantastic value. And they also offer a warm welcome to man's best friend too!
The pub also has a large garden that's a lovely place to sit out in the warmer Summer months.
