Set within a long and elegant building that was once part of the Great Shelford railway station, Zara Indian Cuisine brings a fresh modern look to fine Indian dining. With brightly-coloured contemporary art adorning the walls this restaurant is worth booking for the décor alone!

Zara offers high quality Indian food from a creative chef who is dedicated to invention as well as tradition. Peruse the menu to find all your traditional favourites, but delve a little deeper and you will be rewarded with specials such as Goan Lamb Shank and Duck Masalla.

Persian and Nepalese dishes can be found here too but keep an eye out for the Balti Specialities. Highly recommended by the chef these are spice dishes, individually prepared with fresh ingredients and thoroughly blended mixtures of authentic spices. With perfection in mind Balties at Zara can only be cooked in a balti pan. This characteristic cooking utensil locks in the aromatic flavours of its contents and is vital for creating a 'proper' Balti.

Other highlights you must try when you visit are the Korahi and the Bengali Jalfrezi, which is unique with green herbs and fresh spice. The well known Korahi hails from the valley of Indus and is made with cubes of onion, green pepper, tomatoes and coriander. Lightly spiced it's catnip to curry connoisseurs. Unsurprisingly the Bengali Jalfrezi comes from Bengal with its origins trailing back to the 7th Century. Cooked with sliced onion, green pepper, green chillies and fresh coriander, it's hotter than the Korahi but no less delectable!

Zara offers a separate fish menu featuring dishes with salmon, trout and sea bass - all prepared using the restaurant's very own fish sauce. Health aware customers should take note - all vegetable side dishes at Zara are cooked in a low-cholesterol vegetable oil and with finely chopped onion, green pepper and cooked with medium spice. Happily, if you can't find the Indian dish you require on the menu the staff at Zara will prepare it for you. Just ask!

Those who are in a rush at lunch time Zara offers a business lunch option between 12pm - 2.00pm from Monday to Friday.
