That's where California Kitchen comes in.
Taking the freshest ingredients, preparing them right there and then serving them in the 'Californian' way, no wonder it's the first choice for good, honest food. So kick back and chill out at California Kitchen.
What you'll find there is a combination of all the owner's favourite foods. Healthy salads, yummy sandwiches and wraps, homemade cakes and awesome Mexican food.... There's something for everyone.
Choosing from the menu is like taking your very own road trip through Southern California or SoCal as you'll soon be calling it. From San Onofre to Redondo, around the valley a bit, down to Mexico and over to Catalina Island take a taste of somewhere different. There's lots of choice for vegetarians, vegans and meat-lovers too. The soups and sauces are not thickened with flour, which means there's choice for gluten free diets. Kids love it as well!
Totally unlike your average restaurant California Kitchen even looks different. It's fresh ‘beachy' casual interior is perfect to relax in and when the sun is shining you can get outside to catch some rays in the outside seating. Laid back Californian music plays during the day and then when evening arrives so does the mariachi music.
Great for just shooting the breeze the coffee is excellent and with free tea and filter coffee refills you can sit and chat with friends old and new or use our free WiFi connection to do some work. All the cakes are made in-house. They normally have carrot cake, totally awesome chewy chocolaty brownies, and light as a feather Victoria sponge or lemon drizzle. At busier times California Kitchen may have fresh blueberry muffins or chocolate chip cookies.
All the beers and wines are authentic too. American and Mexican beers are served such as Dos Equis, Corona, Samuel Adams, Lone Star and more. And as for Californian Wine! If you haven't already tried a glass or bottle from one of the world's best wine growing regions you soon can.
Owner Sue Sidney loves the fresh salads and fruits she enjoyed with all the glorious sunshine in Newport Beach, and Mexican food is a huge part of SoCal life, but she also loves American ‘comfort food'. But whilst living in England for the last twenty years she has sometimes found it difficult to find the types of salads and sandwiches she was used to. So she started her own business to make them herself. A home based baking and catering business soon led to the opening of the California Kitchen
Mexican food was introduced as a special and became so popular they started opening on Friday and Saturday nights with a full Mexican menu. Prepared by Californians in the Californian-Mexican tradition here you find the genuine burrito. All the sauces are medium heat. If you want hotter, just ask! They have a variety of other hotter hot sauces in the kitchen ready to turn up the heat on any dish.
Every order is custom made the way that YOU want it. It may take a few minutes longer, but Sue and the team will make sure it's worth the wait!
