Preparations are well underway for the 7th Annual Fordham Music Festival which takes place between Fordham and Burwell close to the East Cambridgeshire / Suffolk border and it is all set to be the biggest ever in it's 7 year history.
Fordhamfest support two charities each year, Cam-Mind who work tirelessly to help those with mental health problems and also this year we are raising awareness for The Red Balloon Learner Centres which helps with the recovery of bullied children and helps them to finish there education.
The Fordham Music Festival will present a cram packed list of respectable festival favourites like Saturday HEADLINERS "DREADZONE" a popular Rock, Reggae, Dance outfit who are regularly on the Bill at Glastonbury and Derek Forbes & Brian Mcgee of X-Simple Minds, the clues is in the name, plus 80's Mod band " SECRET AFFAIR.
Celebrities on the site will include "Bez" from Happy Mondays and his new band "Domino Bones" plus "Bonehead, ex "Oasis" with "The Vortex". Along side the multitude of Stages, this year or new addition will be the Strawberry Fair Stage featuring a line-up of local Cambridgeshire bands including Th'Parish, winners at this years Cambridge Band Competition.
Other Acts include other festival legends THE HAMSTERS, who will be playing a special Jimmy Hendrix 40th Anniversary Set, and PAMA INTERNATIONAL who toured with The Specials for the last two years, also
KELTRIX, KING HAMMOND, DEAF SCHOOL, SHAG NASTY, N.U.M.B, LONG TALL SHORTY, OFFICER KICKS, TEN CITY NATION, MALLORY KNOX, DEAD MAN'S PLIMSOLS,CODEJAK, VIOLET BONES, COLOUR MOVEMENT, TOM PALMER, THE BEAUTIFUL SLEAZY GREG MACDONALD,BLUE HAZE (PINK FLOYD SET) and lots more. In total more than 80 diverse bands performing over the three days, spectators are guaranteed a bit of everything they fancy !
Elsewhere, top dance system Rampage and Uprizing Jungle & Stuart Banks will be keeping the pulse of the party all weekend, with over 100 guest DJs playing all those "block rocking beats" and a variety of Food Traders will be trying their best to tempt us with a range of culinary delights with numerous Bars eager to help quench the party thirst with Real Ales and Ciders!
Over the years FordhamFest has gained an enviable reputation for its family-friendly atmosphere created by reliable and friendly security and this year the kids area is bigger and better then it ever has been before, including a circus workshop, story-tellers, face painters, rides, music workshops and much more. As usual, under-13s are admitted free.
Whatever way you look at it, The Fordham Music Festival looks like being one crunch-busting weekend for the amazingly low price of £55 weekend ticket until May 31st 2010 and cheap day tickets which includes free camping.
