Black Horse, The (Dry Drayton)

Much of the history of this 18th Century inn will forever remain a mystery having been lost to the winds of time, but it's the more recent history that should interest potential visitors to this long established watering hole.

In the summer of 2008 the Black Horse closed down and the residents of Dry Drayton mourned the loss of their beloved local with it's genourous Sunday Roasts.

Manager Aaron Marshall and his wife moved in and set about breathing new life into the centuries old establishment. Aaron's a man who lives and breathes the hospitality industry having worked in pubs and clubs since the age of 18.

Launching as an independent pub in 2009 they've quickly established a reputation for high quality, beautifully presented food using only the best local produce available. Along with gaining vast appreciation for their fine selection of real ales.

The generous traditional roasts are also still there (though taken up a notch), with the entirity of Sunday being dedicated to the great British traditional and options of Lamb, Pork and Beef as well as vegetarian options available along with the traditional accompaniments.

A classic 'Pub Grub' menu is also on offer, full of the traditional British favourites such as Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash and Scampi along with a range of sandwiches and jacket potatoes.

But for those looking for a more refined selection they have an a la carte menu that offers gasto-pub food at it's best. Past offering have included such tempting dishes as fillet steak and pork medallions in a wild mushroom sauce, along with a selection of game dishes such as pigeon. And lets not forget to mention the delicious dessert options.

A local institution has been brought back to life and with food (and ale) this good it won't be long before it's reputation spreads beyond the borders of the sleepy Cambridgeshire  village it calls home.
