When strolling past Spring Chinese and Cantonese restaurant on Mill Road, it is easy to let the florescent strip-lights and bare walls fool you. Don't let the appearance put you off. You'd be missing a treat.
The staff know they need to add the finishing touches to their venue, but right now they've chosen to concentrate on the Chinese and Cantonese cuisine. It's a fair trade - the food

Quite simply the best chinese food
Quite simply the best chinese food I have ever had. All of the dishes are beautifilly presented, the portions are generous and all are reasonably priced. The food is worlds apart from the standard takeaway fare that I have grown accustomed to over the years. Familiar dishes are executed so much better than elsewhere and the range of traditional/authentic dishes on offer make the menu so much

Disappointed
My wife and I tried the Spring, partly on the basis of the favourable reviews. We were very disappointed. Perhaps we should have tried the speciality hotpots. But we chose to have a starter and a couple of main courses with rice. The meat was unexceptional and had a back taste that was hard to identify. The sauces were the most disappointing.
