Built in 1883, Haverhill Arts Centre is a beautiful Grade II listed building that provides first class professional entertainment, and is a hub for community events and groups.
A range of live entertainment, plus cinema and community activities, take place at the centre. It hosts regular concerts by the multi award winning Haverhill Silver Band; monthly performances by the Organ Club; a wide range of musicals, pantomimes and plays through the Centre Stage theatre group; flower arranging; classical concerts and recitals; performances of rock, folk, jazz, and world music; comedy, dance, and children's shows; and it provides meeting rooms for a wide range of local clubs and groups.
210 tiered seats are set up when the hall hosts a show or a film, and it can host dinner dances or functions for up to 120. With this versatility, The Arts Centre is available for hire for performances, meetings, functions, dinner dances
and conferences.
If you're feeling peckish, The Arts Centre Bistro offers a wide range of delicious snacks, meals and drinks from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, while the Arts Centre Bar opens an hour before all events and offers a friendly welcome and the chance to meet friends over a drink.
Other facilities on offer include an exhibition area, meeting room, digital studio, toilets, full disabled access and baby changing facilities. The Haverhill Local History Centre is also housed in the building.
The Arts Centre was originally conceived of as a place for the inhabitants of Haverhill to go and enjoy choral music. Since then the Centre has evolved through hosting regular dances in the ‘50s and ‘60s, to performing pantomimes and holding bingo events in the 70s and 80s, through to its present incarnation as a versatile venue for the arts and the community. This lively venue is always humming with activity.
