The Fountain Inn, in the heart of Cambridge, has the best of old and new. A makeover of the mock-Tudor building has kept the traditional and much-loved look of the outside, whilst the inside has been sympathetically modernised and updated, making it a more light and airy space, with sofas, plants, artwork on sale and a DJ booth, for those busy Friday and Saturday nights! The pub was taken over by The Knight Pub Company and since then the well-established Cambridge pub has gone from strength to strength.
The vision was to take the pub to new heights by improving the feel and atmosphere of the venue, creating a warm and inviting place to be through great service and friendly staff. During the day why not pop in for a coffee, and take a bit of time out to relax on one of the sofas, or take advantage of the pubs free wireless internet? At night the bar really comes into its own, with the low-level lighting, candles on tables, and a vibrant atmosphere.
One of the best features of the new look Fountain Inn is its new and exciting pie and mash menu, served alongside a range of high quality, very reasonably priced homemade soups and sandwiches. Pie Minster, winner of national Great Taste awards 2005/6&7 (the Oscars of the food world) provide the hand-made pies, which are enjoyed by, among others the Queen herself. 
All pies and sandwiches are available for takeaway. Produce is mainly locally sourced and seasonal and meats are free-range supplied by a local butcher.
The Fountain Inn also have an online ordering service, follow the link below to order your food, then all you have to do is arrive at the pub 30 minutes later (or a at a time specified by you) and it will be ready and waiting for you. It’s suitable for eat in or takeaway, just make sure you select the right option!

Being a free house has allowed the pub to hand pick all its products, so you’ll find an extensive range of continental beers on draught, including Amstel, Heineken, Leffe Blonde, Hoegaarden and Staropramen. The Fountain Inn is the only venue in Cambridge to have Heineken Continental, so expect your pint to be served the proper way, with a decent sized head (hence the oversized glass)! Locally produced ales brewed by local independents are always in stock, Elgood’s Cambridge Bitter or City Of Cambridge Brewery’s Hobson’s Choice to name but a few. No alco-pops are sold here!
The bar operates a late licence and is open from 11.30am to 2.00am Monday to Thursday, 11.30am to 3.00am Friday and Saturday, and from 12.00pm to 1.00am on Sunday.
At night, The Fountain Inn becomes one of the city's most popular late night drinking venues, with DJ’s featuring on Friday and Saturday nights. There is a strong emphasis on Funk on Fridays, and an ever changing variety of styles on Saturday, so expect to hear an eclectic mix ranging from Disco to 80’s to old school vocal house, straight up party music to get the dance floor bouncing!
Due to the increased popularity of these events and the pub's desire to retain the fantastic atmosphere it's renowned for, numbers have been restricted and therefore it’s best to get down early to avoid the often-apparent one-in one-out queue. There is a no-charge door policy; so all events are free, except New Years Eve, solely to offset the increased costs incurred.
