Little Bookworms

The long-delayed opening of Cambridge's Central Library in October last year was welcomed by many of us who had missed having a well-stocked facility in the centre of town. Many families now enjoy visiting the children's section which caters for children from birth to teenagers, with a great selection from chewable board books to graphic novels and Manga titles.

But it hasn't all been positive news for Cambridge libraries recently. Smaller community libraries, known as Library Access Points, unfortunately found their funding cut by the County Council at Christmas. They had built up a loyal local following who had relied on them all through the Central Library's closure; and had even been praised by a government minister as a shining example of local people getting involved in running their local services.
