What we thought
The future is definitely proving to be in the past. First it was retro fashion, then 80's music and now, coming full circle, fish and chips are trendy again. The old fashioned chip shop is back, but in unmistakably 21st century surroundings.
Having opened in September 2009, Sea Tree on Broadway, Mill Road, billed as the 'alternative fish bar', is the realisation of a long-term dream of the owners: to open

Small portions, expensive
The fish is good but the chips are nothing to get excited about. They seemed like they could have done with a few more minutes in the fryer. The portions are very small considering the price. Potatoes aren't expensive - another scoop or two of chips would have made this meal seem like better value.

Nowhere near as good as it needs to be
There are a number of places in Cambridge where one can get consistently good fish and chips, but this isnt one of them. Given the prices they charge, the product needs to be better than this, My most recent visit was on a Thursday at lunchtime; the fish had become dry from sitting and, as usual, the portion of chips was paltry and they were pretty poor -
