of our visit a metallic silver and dusky pink finish painted over wooden panelling gives a zany stripy effect. There are, of course, a good healthy dose of plastic plants scattered around creating extra privacy between tables. Printed silks hang from the walls, depicting scenes from Indian stories.

The restaurant aims to provide Indian cuisine and service suitable for kings and nobles, and indeed, to make us feel like a maharajah. The friendly and attentive service from the uniformed, hotel porter-like waiters, wearing bright green jackets with elaborate cuff and collar details, look smart and stiff.

The menu was nothing unusual in terms of choices and price, and with table details such pink draping tablecloths and small plastic flowers in vases it seems to be a very standard Indian restaurant setting. The lamb rogan josh was tasty but with overly chewy chunks of meat with green peppers and coriander in an oily tomato sauce. This curry was only slightly spicy and verged on bland. For the die hard curry fiend, a vegetable Ceylon here will live up to expectations, with a mouth burning hotness level living up to its menu description. Overall, the meal was very ordinary as far as curries go, but the reasonable prices, comfortable atmosphere and good service would be the main reasons to come here.
