Lauren…02 Nov 2009I visited Teri-Aki on a Friday night with 6 friends. Despite booking a table, when we arrived it wasnt ready, and we were left standing squeezed in the doorway with people trying to get past us. When we were finally seated after about 10 minutes, the service was pretty poor and the food itself wasnt much better. Im personally not a fan of sushi but was happy to go to Teri-Aki due to the large menu of alternatives. I had the Tori Yaki Soba, but it turned out to be nothing more than your average greasy takeaway, but they had the cheek to charge £9 for it! Outrageous. It then took ages for us to get someone to bring us the bill and even longer for them to take payment. I certainly wont be going again.
Mike…29 Oct 2009We have been there quite a few times and usually the food was great and the service attentive and quick. This time, though, the service was a desaster. We had booked a table for 19:45. Arriving at that time the place was quite busy and there were a few people before us who were seated first. When it was our turn we were told to wait at a corner of the Sushi bar. No drinks or menus offered. After some time we got ourselves some menus but were ignore for about 15 minutes. The staff seemed to rush past us and avoided being approached. Finally we were offered a table that would be avaiable in a few minutes. We also suggested they should give us the order sheets in the meantime. Not that they could have thought about that themselves. Being finally seated after about 20 minutes we handed over the order sheet and got our drinks and miso soup 15 minutes later. The miso soup arrived with no lid (it usually does have one) and the spoon was an ordinary tea spoon. We were getting hungrier and hungrier but no food arrived. Asking a waitress what had happened after about 45 minutes, she told us that there had been a paper jam and our order had been lost. They would prepare the food now. That took another 10 minutes and the presentation was very lacklustre. Just all the sushi crammed together on one plate. The food was fine, although the portions of ginger had been reduced to a symbolic size. When going to pay the waitress apologised for the wait and mentioned they were very buys. Yes, it was busy but that's no excuse for not even trying to be accomodating. We'll try some other sushi place next time. Seems Teri Aki needs some competetion to not get complacent.
