Refreshment wise, CB2's stock the strange tasting 'tequila beer' for the Mexican influence, however being run and owned by those of Italian origin this is the culture that comes through the most. As a treat we recommend starting (or finishing, if you have the room) with a chocolate espresso milkshake, fresh, creamy and with a kick to wake you up if you feel yourself lagging.

Starters are around £5 each (£10 for a sharing platter) so it's not particularly cheap but these could do as a small meal themselves if you weren't looking for a monster eating session. A bowl of freshly herbed olives and, a Mediterranean favourite, bread and olive oil worked for us.

As a main choice, the royal milanese chicken, (a lemon flavoured breadcrumbed breast) came with a fresh crunchy salad and spiced chips. If you have delicate taste buds, we would recommend avoiding these as they pack a bit of a punch, perhaps go for a side of pomodoro pasta instead.

The special of the day (beef lasagne) had sold out by 7.30pm so it must have been good! Luckily there was plenty of the home made vegetarian lasagne left. Though it was obviously cooked once and re-heated so the top dried out somewhat, that didn't stop it from being tasty, packed full of different vegetables, topped with béchamel cheese and served with mixed leaves salad.

Though there are only nine options on the Bistro's main menu section, don't think you won't have plenty of options. Several choices of wraps, salads and types of pasta as well as four types of burgers are available for you to ponder over. And if you decide against all this or just want to skip the meal completely and go straight to dessert then you are in the right place.

The cheesecake of the day on this occasion was malteaser and honey, individually baked and with that cheesy creamy texture you can only get when it really is home made. Like the Cheesecake, CB2's Tiramisu, Panacotta and their choice of Gateaux are all made on site. Cookies, cakes and sundaes with five different flavours of ice cream (including amaretto and pistachio) are also available.

Though on our trip the restaurant was only half full, the staff still seemed to struggle with the numbers, great if you want a leisurely meal not so much if you were in a rush. Luckily the friendly service put paid to any complaints we may have had and the main and dessert being so filling, not being rushed out of your seat was a plus. Lingering over the coffee whilst indulging in the aforementioned people watching, gave us time to reflect on what has been a thoroughly pleasant dining experience.
