| The Sala Thong is dressed in wood throughout and manages to convey a feeling of wholesome home cooking that seems somehow more appropriate to an English farm kitchen than a Thai restaurant.
The food is particularly good and exceptionally cheap. The hot and sour soup is filled with meat and is a course all by itself. The Pad Thai noodles are always a good test of Thai a restaurant and the Sala Thong passes with flying colours. All in all the food is delicate the food is delicate and well-prepared and well-prepared and the staff take care that it matches your requirements. They are often willing to alter dishes if you have any particular needs changing the meats or other ingredients simply to oblige.
The Sala Thong is one of the longest standing Thai restaurants in the Cambridge area. It is situated just around the corner from the picturesque mill pond on the opposite side to the Granta pub. Over the years it has played host to a whole variety of customers. One American lady had the temerity to argue with the staff over whether Thai people ate with chopsticks, and was duly supplied with these non-Thai implements. The rest of the customers were hiding their smiles as the demure and quiet way the staff handled the customer drew admiration from all sides.
Overall we can highly recommend not just the food but the whole experience from the ambience to the attentiveness of the staff. |
