A Jammy Jamboree by the A14 PLUS localsecrets becomes localsecrets.com, Eating Out, Sport, Wine & Classical Dear Info,

This week we will launch a radical redesign of our website. Alongside the new look and structure, we change our name from 'localsecrets' to 'localsecrets.com' and add a new logo. So when you next visit us don't be surprised to see our new suit of clothes. The spirit and content remain the same. And so back to the usual Monday blog: The weather misbehaved on Saturday for the Orchard Park family fun day. First it rained and then the wind tried it?s hardest to blow away all the stalls in the north Cambridge development by the purring A14. Despite all this though smiles abounded. Standing at an angle we spoke to a local historian who revealed the blindingly obvious to us. Not that we knew until he told that is. As he attempted to stop his display from blowing away in the wind he unveiled pictures of the area when it used to be an orchard for the Chivers jam factory in nearby Histon ? hence the name. After a long delay in construction the residents of Orchard Park had much to celebrate with the opening of lots of new facilities including an astroturf pitch and a bike park. All they need now is a bus that runs on rails or something. Across town the much more established suburb of Cherry Hinton celebrated too. The kindly people at the council helped them by putting on the annual folk festival. As locals will know they merely have to open their windows in the last weekend in July to hear the hottest acts on the folk scene. We forgot to buy our tickets this time round but we did try out the perennial Cambridge dodge of taking an exceptionally long time to cycle along the footpath round the back right by the main stage. We were rewarded with the sight of lots of people looking at a stage! Some were even wearing wellies ? . Next year we?re moving to Cherry Hinton, or maybe we?ll just book early instead. We're all about fun things to do this summer in our Sports & Outdoors features. Discover our pick of the activities happening on the local or learn more about the summer . | Book now for LodeStar Festival Book your tickets now for the fresh and thrilling festival only minutes from Cambridge -- takes place Fri 3rd - Sun 5th Sep -- |

Socks, coats and... forty thieves! We present two pubs around Cambridge this week which both seem to have articles of clothing in their names! Plus we re-visit an unsung Middle Eastern restaurant near the station.
The Missing Sock, Stow cum Quy As we parked our car we were confronted by an old red double-decker bus - an early sign that this is somewhere different, and different it certainly is
The Plough & Fleece, Horningsea Whichever way you get there, you'll be rewarded by a Les Routiers recommended pub that dates back to the 1500s
Ali Baba, Cambridge From the hummus to the falafel and Sambousik jibneh (cheese and veg in a pastry), everything we tried was delicious

Keeping busy over the summer holidays School's over for another year and the long hot summer beckons! So we've put together a few ideas of things to keep everybody busy from various events happening on National Trust properties to the Cambridge city council summer events schemes. Plus we reflect on the two year countdown to the London Olympic Games and bring you our monthly local sport roundup.
National Trust Goes Wild The sun is out and the kids are off school, so parents will be wondering how to keep the little ones entertained. To encourage kids (and parents) to make the most of the school holidays - the National Trust will be ‘going wild' in town centres across the East of England during the summer break
Summer Daze in the City Chypps, or the Children and Young People's Participation Service, works with children and young people of all ages across the city and is dedicated to ensuring that all children and young people can access play and youth provision through the Summer Daze programme of events
Olympic Legacy The buzzword to all things Olympic is now legacy. How will the Games benefit Great Britain in the long-term in terms of infrastructure and sports participation and achievement

Taking the trombone seriously A concert this weekend delivered by expert trombonist Stephanie Dyer presented us with the perfect excuse to try and take that instrument seriously. Find out how we got on!
Fitz Prom The trombone has a unique ability to make silly sounds like sliding down the scale (the accompaniment to many banana skin comedies) or a deep rasping bass note sounding like a very rude raspberry
